Olallieberry and Strawberry U-Pick & Picnic, Saturday June 26

A beautiful day of picking and picnicking! Thanks to all pickers, grinners and picnickers.
On Saturday June 26th we headed south to Swanton Berry Farm for our first U-Pick & Picnic of the summer. An olallieberry is a 20th-century cross between the loganberry and the youngberry (each of which is itself a cross between a blackberry and another berry).

The Olallieberry season is very short, and Swanton is the only certified organic farm that hosts olallieberry U-Picks. They will also have plenty of strawberries for you to pick. For those of you who do not know Swanton, it was the first organic farm in the U.S. to contract for union labor.
