Join us at our 2013 Winter Warmer Slow Food Potlucks
Time to relax after the holiday madness with like-minded folks sharing food, fun and conviviality!
As usual, a few generous folks have stepped forward and agreed to open their homes to other Slow Food East Bay members for our quarterly potlucks. Locations, timing and themes are listed below with links to the appropriate signups. Pick whichever one appeals and reserve your place ASAP – they’re quite limited at some of the spots.
- North Berkeley – 6:30pm – “Good, Clean and Fair”
- Oakland Maxwell Park area – 7:00pm – “Vegetarian Winters”
- Berkeley – 7:00pm – “Traditional New Years Foods for Health, Wealth & Wisdom”
- Temescal – 7:00pm – “Foraged (hallelujah the world’s not over, let’s take advantage!)
As we mentioned before, we’re planning to use this set of gatherings to raise the topic of investing in local food businesses – we’re hoping to have people at each dinner conversant in the finances of the food biz, investing options such as Slow Money, and, hopefully, reps from People’s Community Market. Their amazing project in West Oakland is getting off the ground – we recommend you check out the details, then plan to come on the 10th and learn more!
Though farmers markets are a little spare right now, there are still options like beautiful scarlet turnips, local meat and eggs and Satsumas and Cara Caras to die for – so dig deep into your creativity and put together a seasonally appropriate dish to share with your fellow Slow Foodies.
