September 15, 2023: Fermentation Happy Hour & Collaboration Miso Launch
We celebrated all things fermented at our Fermentation Happy Hour on Friday, September 15th, including the launch of our collaboration miso with Shared Cultures!
Using heirloom California Santa Maria Pinquito Beans from Rancho Gordo and spices from Oaktown Spice, we aimed to create a miso reminiscent of the renowned Santa Maria BBQ—guests got to taste this smoky, spicy wonder!
Attendees had a sneak peek of the miso and were able to buy a jar ahead of its regular shop release, all while enjoying other fermented goodies from Three Stone Hearth, Fox Tale Fermentation, and Cafe15 (plus wine from Hammerling Wine — also a fermented product!).
We also had a couple of short presentations about the miso project and fermented beverages, along with a demo and info session from Elizabeth of Preserved Oakland. Some lucky folks may have even gone home with their very own fermentation crock!
